Mercer appoints Cynthia Cottrell to lead Talent, Rewards and Transformation Solutions

Australia, 23 February, 2021 – Cynthia Cottrell has been appointed to the role of Career Leader and will have Executive responsibility for Mercer’s workforce solutions capabilities in Australia and New Zealand. Ms Cottrell’s appointment comes following the announcement of Garry Adams’ retirement, after nine years as Career Leader and 25 years at Mercer.

With more than 20 years’ experience in leadership roles, Ms Cottrell brings a wealth of knowledge from her diverse work with private and public sector clients across a range of industries in Australia and abroad. She has significant expertise in organisational change and design, management consulting, digital transformation, M&A and employee experience.

Ms Cottrell joins Mercer from Korn Ferry, where she led the Organisational Strategy business. Prior to this she held senior roles during her 16 years at IBM (USA and Australia), most recently as a Managing Partner and Client Executive.

Mercer Australia CEO and Pacific Zone Leader David Bryant said Ms Cottrell’s passion for helping clients succeed by powering their people was perfectly aligned with Mercer’s purpose of creating better lives.

“Our clients are increasingly looking to us to help them transform and grow their businesses through new ways of working, unlocking the full potential of their workforce through creative solutions and data-driven strategies,” Mr Bryant said.

“From tailored workforce planning to organisational design, reinventing the employee experience and having a finger on the pulse of the rewards environment, now more than ever, organisations need the right tools to not only survive but thrive. Cynthia’s leadership and value-based, innovative approach to collaborating with clients puts us in good stead to bring more of our workforce capabilities to businesses so that they can secure their futures,” he said.
