Marsh and McLennan have just awarded an MBA Scholarship to an exceptional female who would not otherwise have had the means to do so.

Ben Walsh, Country Corporate Officer, MMC Australia proudly announced human resources professional Rebecca Nikqi as the winner of the $60,000 Women In Leadership MBA scholarship following a rigorous selection process.

“Rebecca was selected from 26 applicants based on both her professional and life experiences. She has demonstrated leadership capabilities and high levels of resilience coupled with exceptional academic results and aspirations for the future.”

Mr Walsh said that MMC is a vocal advocate for diverse and inclusive Australian workplaces.

“Diversity is about recognising our individual differences; but more than this, it is about appreciating, seeking out, embracing and celebrating our individual differences.

“To compete in today’s global economy; Australia must attract, develop, engage, and retain the best leaders from diverse talent pools. That’s how we’ll create workplaces where the most talented people want to work,” he said.

The scholarship includes a fully-funded Masters of Business Administration through The University of Sydney and ongoing networking opportunities within the MMC group of companies.

Ms Nikqi grew up in south-west Sydney and her parents both migrated to Australia in the 1970s in search of a better future, and a good education, for their children.

“My mother strongly believed in the value of education and has been a huge influence on me. I hope that this scholarship helps me to be a role model for other aspiring women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“Because of this sponsorship I have the opportunity to partner with a highly successful professional services firm and receive a world-class postgraduate education that will springboard my career to the next level, preparing me for a career in executive leadership roles.

“The scholarship is a living example of the commitment of MMC to drive diversity in our workplaces and support the communities in which they operate,” she said.
