Mercer, a global consulting leader in advancing health, wealth and career, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh and McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), has appointed experienced investment strategist Gwion Moore to the role of Head of Investment Strategy.
Gwion joins Mercer from Suncorp where he has held the role of Executive Manager, Investment Strategy and Portfolio Management since 2015. Prior to this, Gwion was based in London where he led investment strategy at Russell Investments and Mn Services. He has also held portfolio management roles at Lehman Brothers and JP Morgan.
Joining Mercer’s Pacific Portfolio Management senior leadership team, Gwion will be responsible for leading asset allocation decision making, both strategic and dynamic, for the Mercer Pacific Funds.
Mercer Pacific CIO Kylie Willment said Gwion’s appointment strengthens the capabilities of the Portfolio Management team.
“Gwion has an in-depth knowledge of markets and a vast amount of expertise in setting strategy for multi-sector funds across the risk and time horizon spectrum. With his specialist skills, we’re in a stronger position to build on our growing delegated asset management business and maximise outcomes for our investors,” said Ms Willment.
Mr Moore said Mercer’s expertise in implementing investments on behalf of clients was recognised globally.
“Mercer is the largest provider of implemented consulting, as well as the largest investment consultant, in the world. Investors are increasingly seeking the expertise and cost efficiencies that come with outsourcing their investment needs,” Mr Moore said.
“I’m looking forward to working with Mercer’s team to deliver greater investment outcomes for superannuation members and institutional clients alike,” he said.
Ms Willment said the Head of Investment Strategy position was the last newly-created role to be filled in her team’s senior leadership.
“Over the last six months, we’ve welcomed Campbell McCulloch as Head of Fund Implementation and Ronan McCabe as Head of Portfolio Management. Gwion’s appointment is the last of three newly-created senior leadership roles as part of our strategy to deliver better outcomes for clients and facilitate continued growth with a stronger Portfolio Management Team,” she said.
Mr Moore joins Mercer in June and will be based in Sydney.
