Mercer draws on employees’ different personal characteristics and life experiences to create an environment in which employees can thrive and contribute fully to our shared success.
Flexibility and growth opportunities
As an employer of choice, we take pride in providing flexibility and opportunities to our employees. We offer employees a comfortable work environment and alternative work arrangements so they can grow professionally, enjoy their work, and balance their personal and professional needs.
Ongoing employee learning opportunities
Mercer offers employees a variety of diversity resources and learning opportunities, such as workshops and online courses, to promote awareness of diversity issues and increase competence in identifying, understanding and addressing those issues.
Employee networks
Mercer’s employee networks represent various communities within our employee population. Network activities focus on fostering understanding and inclusion in the workplace and providing a means for employees to interact and exchange views. The networks also strive to enhance the professional growth and development of their members. Externally, the networks work to strengthen corporate citizenship and build ties to the communities in which our company serves.

Women's network: Mercer sees championing the growth, development and success of our women employees as critical. The women’s network focuses on internal networking, career development and leadership progression, business development, mentoring, and work/life balance.
"Our Women’s Network works to ensure that Mercer has a full complement of women within our leadership ... with women being recognized and given the opportunity to lead. The network allows for personal connections and also provides the mentoring opportunities to the next generation of women." - Barb Marder, Mercer retirement consultant and Women's network participant

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) network: Mercer’s LGBT network is committed to ensuring Mercer is a place where everyone – regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identification – has an equal opportunity to succeed. The network focuses on talent acquisition support, cultural transformation and community engagement. The group also sponsors LGBT-related events for employees nationwide and participates in a variety of volunteerism efforts.
"Networks can help make employees comfortable with coming to work and not having to check anything at the door. They allow people to connect, both inside and outside the company, in ways that they normally could not have. I’ve been able to expand my business network, both internally and externally and, as a result, have had some opportunities arise that may not have existed had it not been for these contacts." - James Campbell, Mercer health & benefits consultant and LGBT network participant

Racial and ethnic diversity (RED) network: The RED network works to attract people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities to Mercer, and then supports their career development and success. The network focuses on mentoring, cultural awareness, networking and business development.
"Employees can benefit directly through the network’s programming and events, such as learning opportunities, mentoring or expansion of their network of colleagues. Networks also allow employees to tap into points of views and experiences that may be different from theirs, thereby broadening their thinking, knowledge and development.”" - Nina Chen, Mercer client relationship manager and RED network participant
Employee networks are created by and for employees. New networks are established as interested groups present a business case for their purpose and demonstrate that their proposed objectives will support inclusion and diversity at Mercer.
