About Mercer Australia

Our community & environment program

Mercer is committed to playing its parts in the local communities in which it operates, in recognition of its corporate social responsibility.

Following feedback by its employees in February 2008, Mercer’s community & environment program encompasses the following themes:

  • Youth at risk
  • Child welfare
  • Environment; and
  • Homelessness and poverty.

Workplace Giving Program

Workplace Giving Program

Mercer employees can donate money directly from their gross salary to the community and Mercer currently matches the contribution dollar for dollar. The Workplace Giving Program will allocate funds based on the themes above.

Through this program Mercer has contributed to organisations like Western Chances and Peter Mac Foundation.

Community Volunteer Leave

Community Volunteer Leave

Mercer provides its employees with one day’s paid volunteer leave for employees to participate in a community organisation. Volunteering activities can range from one-day team challenges to working in a soup kitchen to tree-planting. Since March this year, about 80 employees in Melbourne alone have volunteered at the Salvation Army and Sacred Heart Mission.

Participation in awareness campaigns

Participation in awareness campaigns

Mercer supports employees across the organisation in a variety of community awareness campaigns, for example Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. In 2007 and 2008 Mercer matched the funds raised by its employees for this event, contributing a total of $7,000 to the Cancer Council.

Our sponsorship program

Mercer is proud to support one of Australia’s most respected Art organisations, the National Gallery of Victoria. We have engaged in a partnership with the gallery which will see us be a support sponsor of three major exhibitions over three years.

We value this opportunity to work with the gallery to bring art and people together, to reinforce our commitment to the community and to make a positive contribution to the Arts.
